TAST, satin stitch

This weeks stitch was the Satin stitch.
It should be one of the easiest stitches, but I found it rather difficult to get it neat.
The one of the variegated thread is made on my tast sampler and the France lily is made on a DYB block from a quilt friend who has the theme of Joane of Arc.
I have used white and grey cotton embroider 16 DMC.

I love your Fleur di les. Your use of the 2 colors of threads, or so it looks to me, makes the subtle shadowing perfect.

Love them. Maureen

I love both your designs. They are just wonderful in those variegated colors. The neatness issue is why this isn't my favorite stitch. Maybe I'm too impatient, but it takes so long to get it to look nice, I just avoid it a lot.

Hello lovely lady! Oh darlin, these are simply beautiful! I just love the satin stitch for fills. Have you ever tried thread painting? There are some fabulous artists out there that have great books on the art. One is called Jenny McWhinney (Bunnies in my Garden) and the other gal is very famous for her work Helen Stevens, who has several books out. If you ever get the chance to pick up these books you will be amazed at what you can do with that one stitch.
