Cyber Fiber exhibition

If you have 20 minutes time today to visit an exhibition take a look at this blog.
There are both an atc show and a postcard show from the exhibition Susan Lenz organises.

CYBER FYBER EXHIBITION is an international event scheduled at Gallery 80808/Vista Studios, 808 Lady Street in downtown Columbia, South Carolina, USA from January 8th through 20th, 2009. The focus of this exhibition is to highlight the influences of Internet access for today's fiber artists.

There is both a postcard and an atc from me in the videos.
Wish I could go there and see them all in real!

nice things in the mail

The last days I have got very nice things in my mailbox.
First came a baggie from Jo which I won in the November lottery on Jo's blog. Many pieces of tatting to use in my work , sassa lynne threads, wired ribbons and one of Jo's beautiful cards!
Than the atc on the left, dark blue with the star from Jean Toms ( UK) it is in mixed media and much nicer in person than the photo!
The second atc on the left from Anne Lugherini ( France). Anne and I have traded a few atc's now and she always sent something nice. Anne doesn't have a blog.
The lovely embroidered bird is an other gift. I won this from Laurence's blog.
A while ago she offered this on her blog because of the blog anniversary.
As always you can click on the photo to enlarge.
Am I spoiled or not?
Yes, I think so :-))

cutting-sewing-cutting-sewing...

Yesterday and today the weather was not worth to put your nose out of the door, so I hide myself in my sewing room in the basement.
Cutting-sewing-cutting and sewing again. 60 split nine patch blocks are now ready to be assembled. PINK, PINK, a bed-size quilt for my pink loving granddaughter.
Story will be continued............

TIF challenge December

This month Sharon wrote on her blog:
For the final challenge of the year and since it is the gift giving season and many of us run ourselves ragged either making gifts or buying them I want to ask what is the idea of generosity to you. That is the theme for this month. So just take a few moments and think about what it is to give and how would you represent that visually.
For those who want an easy challenge or simply too busy to think, doing the colour scheme is not difficult and it can be applied to a seasonal project. If on the other hand, since this is the last challenge for the series a more difficult challenge is appealing then the question about what generosity is to you is will be interesting.

And here are the colors given

As you see I did nothing with the theme and have only used the colors to make a Christmas block.
This is the last challenge of the "Take It Further" year and I like to thank Sharon for the ideas she offered to use the year round to make something different.
For me it was often a challenge to use both the theme and the colors.
This block is 8", 20 cm square.
I have made a fabric book of the pages, you can see it on my Flickr page HERE.

Christmas things

Lately I have made some Christmas cards and a few atc's from the left-overs.
The atc's are for trade, the Christmas cards are on their way to their new homes.
I am working on my December TIF page now and will show it in a couple of days.

DYB-RR block

Here is my block for Cobi ( the Netherlands) in this DYB-RR from the group CQI.
Cobi's theme is India. The size of the block is 6", 15 cm square.
I had to go out of my comfort zone to embellish this block.
Much glamour and glitter.
I have embroidered a painted hand what they do in India with special occasions.
Made a shihsa and have added more sequins than I normally do.
You may wonder why I have added green threads and green sequins?
Have a look below and you see four other blocks from this series, they have green silk fabric and are embelished by four other ladies in this group.

needlefelt quiltie

A needlefelt quiltie for a swap in the Unlimited Textiles group.
The theme is "winter wonderland". I have made it on my embellisher machine from colored sheepfleece and a few angelica fibers for shiny sparkles in the snow.
The quiltie should be 5", 12,5 cm square but it seems I have great difficulties to work so small.
This piece was far too large and I have cut away as much as possible to keep it nice.
Now the size is 13 x15 cm. I hope the receiver likes it as it is, if not, I presume she has a scissor :-)

Happy mail

Today my presents from my swapsister Hideko ( cqaw-group)came in the mail.
I have seen the photos on her blog but it is much nicer in real.
A scissor case and a pinkeeper.
Thank you very much for those nice made gifts. I will use them!
