Bead Journal Project

This is my BJP 2010 project for January. Yes, I know I am late. I didn't know what to make, didn't have inspiration. Until the moment I made a white/silver beadsoup last week, to bead the mountains on the CQ block below. Then I thought I can make snow crystals from beads :)
I made the background from needlefelt on my embellisher from wool. The edge is made from shiny organza ribbon with glass seed beads.
The photo is rather poor, in real the contrast between the matte wool and the shiny beads is so nice. I 'll keep this for myself ( I think). 95% of the things I make are for swaps and leave my house. This has the size of a CD.
Now to think about February;)

Ati, je hebt groot gelijk om het zelf te houden. Het is heel erg mooi en mag je jezelf af en toe niet eens verwennen....!

what a perfect little snow day. it instantly reminded me of my childhood, happily playing in the snow; catching the snowflakes to look at their patterns. this is great!

I love your snowy winter. It seems to have some warmth to it, at least in the photo, some hint of pink or light blue. I have so enjoyed reading your blog and seeing your wonderful work.

Ati, I love it!!! I HAD THE SMAE PROBLEM GETTING STARTED WITH jANUARY! No inspiration and a feeling of panic Till I looked out the window and saw mountains of snow that we are not supposed to have in this part of the world!
Love your beautiful snow flakes!!!

This piece is like taking a bit of the mountain blocks you just did and keeping some of it for yourself. It's lovely...Maybe February you could do the same thing...since you give away 95% of what you do, maybe you could use the remaining supplies from your monthly swap work to make a bead journal for yourself. Then you'd have a memory of your work for an entire year.

Just a thought. You won't hurt my feelings if you hate the idea. But I loved your bit of snow from the marvelous mountain cq block! Bravo!

Your January page makes me think back to my childhood. I grew up in a snowy climate, and I always loved it on the day after a night time snow storm, when the sky was bright blue and the wind was blowing the newly-fallen powder around. I can feel the little tingles on my face when I look at your piece - lovely!

Yes, I know how it is... sometimes it takes a while for inspiration to come. But in this case, it certainly did!!! I'm so glad you told us about the ribbon/bead edge... very pretty! It definitely shows the prettier side of winter, which is a good thing when one is longing for spring.

How delicate and beautiful! It was like enjoying an up-close moment with a snowflake, glittery and light. I took a peak at your inspiration--the quilt block particpated with. I loved your work on that also. Your beading added just the right element to bring the piece to life!
